Convex: Reactive Database and Sync Engine

DSM Web Geeks is excited to welcome Neil Roberts for a dive into Convex, the reactive database and sync engine designed for building fast, real time web applications. Neil is a veteran front end engineer with more than 20 years of experience spanning everything from Atari BASIC to modern TypeScript. He has contributed to projects like Dojo and WordPress, taught developers around the world, and now focuses on building LLM powered tools that amplify human expertise through empathetic and sustainable design.

This session is a practical crash course in Convex. You will learn how to model data using TypeScript first schemas, take advantage of Convex’s built in reactive query engine, and use its React hooks to create user interfaces that update instantly as data changes. Whether you are curious about reactive backends or looking for new ways to simplify real time features, this talk will give you a solid foundation and concrete examples you can apply right away.
