Web dojo: Javascript, part 3: offline/local storage
posted: July 27th, 2011
It’s time for our August dojo. We’ll be putting the wraps on our 3-part Javascript series, this time we’ll be extending our app to support offline and/or local storage. You’ll get the details at the meeting and, since this is an emerging technology that few people have experience with, we’ll make things easier by giving everyone a head start. Here’s a good article about going offline if you want to read up on it before hand.
We’ll be meeting Monday, Aug 1st at 7:00 pm at Foundry Coworking (thanks Alexander for generously hosting us!). After 6:00 parking next to the building is fair game. There’s parking on the street in front of the building and also on Walnut behind the building.
“What is a web dojo?” you ask? It is a collaborative learning event where we break into teams to complete a surprise task. People of all skill levels and talents are welcome and we’ve found the more variety we have better the evening is. Since each team’s composition is different, each solution tends to also be different. After the allotted time each group presents their results. It’s a great way to exercise your problem solving skills and learn new perspectives and techniques.
If this sounds like the kind of fun you’re into, please come. You are welcome to RSVP either by leaving a comment here or on our Facebook event page. We love to know in advance how many to expect but if you don’t respond we’ll still let you participate.
Javascript / Location web dojo July 11th
posted: July 5th, 2011
We’ve got another exciting web dojo planned for you in July. We’ll be working with Javascript again helping our hypothetical realtor agency continue the development of their mobile web app. The topic is Javascript and Location and there will be a lot more fun in this round. We had such a high success rate last time that we’ve decided to add more variety!
You’ll have to attend to learn more. The event is at Foundry Coworking, downtown Des Moines, at 7:00 pm, Monday July 11th.
