Building your personal website with Jekyll

Join us Monday, June 12th as we dig into transforming your plain text into static websites and blogs with Jekyll. We’ll walk through a few examples with Josh McCall and take a look at the DSMWebCollective.com — a fantastic website promoting central Iowa user groups.

Jekyll is a simple, blog-aware, static site generator perfect for personal, project, or organization sites. Think of it like a file-based CMS, without all the complexity. Jekyll takes your content, renders Markdown and Liquid templates, and spits out a complete, static website ready to be served by Apache, Nginx or another web server. Jekyll is the engine behind GitHub Pages, which you can use to host sites right from your GitHub repositories.

We will be meeting on Monday, June 12th at 6:30 pm at The Forge in Downtown Des Moines across from the sculpture garden. You’ll need your laptops, but we’ll help you get everything set up.

If you’ll join us, we’d love for you to RSVP.
