WordPress Web Dojo Monday Sept 16th at 6:30 in Valley Junction

Hello group, I hope your schedule has settled back down now that summer is unofficially over. Here at Webgeeks we’re on a bit of a WordPress kick after hearing Jason Bradley‘s awesome talk on child themeing. We thought we’d put some of his techniques into action. He kindly shared the code with us and we felt we could build on that for our next dojo.

So, if you want to hone your theme building skills, come join us! We’ll be at the Green Grounds Cafe in Valley Junction, just a block away from Goodsmith’s office. There will be refreshments and food  available to purchase.

Lets meet from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Monday, Sept 16th. Please help us plan ahead by RSVPing, either leave a comment here or use our Facebook event.

But wait, what is a dojo you ask? Great question! It is a way to get familiar with a new technique or process. We announce a goal and then break up into teams. Very likely you will work with people you don’t know but we try to get a mix of skill levels on each team. We try hard to set it up so that at the end of the event, everyone accomplishes at least the basic purpose and learns something. After we’re done, we get together as a group, share what we did and learn from each other’s attempts. It’s a great way to get past the “getting started” cliff on a new technology so that you can begin using it in your own daily activities. During past dojos we’ve created a Facebook app, a URL shortener and a mobile app with Phonegap.

Come join us, we think you’ll have a lot of fun!
