Build an offline mobile web app with HTML5 and Node.js

Join us Monday June 9th at 6:30pm for another fun web dojo! This time we will learn how to build an offline mobile web app with HTML5 and Node.js.

This month we’ll prepare for the Iowa State Fair. How many times have you wondered where the best deal on your favorite beverage is? Well, we’re going to start building a mobile web app to do just this! Helpful users can log where they found their favorite beverage and the cost so that others can compare prices and find whatever they’re craving. The June dojo will focus on making an app offline compatible. At later events we’ll add the other needed features.

You don’t need to be an expert to learn and help. We’ll be working in small teams and we’ll share the source code when we’re done, so you can review or improve the code whenever.

We’ll be meeting again at Legends downtown at 6:30pm on Monday June 9th. Bring your laptop. Ideally you’ll have already installed Node.js. If you need help, here’s an easy to follow tutorial on how to install Node.js successfully for Mac, Windows and Linux.

We’d love if you’d RSVP on our Facebook event.
